Inside
Bask in the creature comforts and literary inspiration offered by this beautifully restored coaching inn that reflects its period glory. Whether you are interested in literature, architecture or just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, here you can retreat in a unique and luxurious setting.
- Style: Period elegance with a lick of modern flamboyance, think ebony beams, white-panelled walls, inglenook fireplaces and wood and marble floors, all beautifully dressed with a tasteful blend of modern and antique furnishings.
- Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Choose from a range of 5 boutique double bedrooms, all with Queen size beds and private bathrooms housing a bath, spa bath and/or separate shower. The largest and most opulent of the collection is The Shakespeare Suite with its queen sized bed and en suite shower room boasting a large walk in shower with body jets, double sinks and a WC. Titania's Bower, another favourite, is light and contemporary with a four-poster queen size bed and private bathroom.
- For relaxation: Sink into the soft sofas by the generous log fire in the Drawing Room.
- For recreation: Unwind in the restored parterre gardens or under the shelter of the willow trees to the rear of the house.
Outside
A beautifully designed parterre garden leads to a large, well-manicured lawn and an ornamental pond surrounded by willow trees. The front gardens are set well back from the village road and are planted with mature trees and shrubs.
Safety Notice Due to the nature of the gardens and its surroundings, where there is a pond located in the grounds, we strongly advise that children are not to be left unattended at any time and a signed saftey disclaimer is required
Food and wine
- DIY: Available on a catered basis, there are no self catering facilities at The Elizabethan. Allow your resident hosts to indulge you
- In-house cuisine: Put your feet up and enjoy fully catered accommodation from breakfast through to dinner. As much local produce as possible is used to create a delectable breakfast, typically including fresh seasonal fruits, juices, cereals, homemade breads and a continental or Full English breakfast spread. You can also choose to enjoy afternoon tea with a selection of finger sandwiches, scones and cakes in the garden, Drawing Room or Morning Room (by pre-arrangement only). Dinner is served by the roaring log fire in the dining hall by prior arrangement.
- Eating out: A selection of excellent local recommendations can be supplied on request.

- By car: A convenient stopover for Shakespeare, and now his followers, the property is situated between London (about 70 miles) and Stratford upon Avon (52 miles).
- By train: The nearest train station is Bicester, about 5 miles away from the house.
- By Air:The nearest airport is Luton approximatly 35 minutes away or Heathrow airport approimatly 1 hour away
Out and About
- The property is just 8 miles from Bicester Village, a haven for shopaholics and bargain hunting fashionistas.
- Visit Waddesdon Manor and Gardens (just four miles away) and the National Trust's Claydon House (5 miles away).
- Catch a Shakespeare play in Stratford upon Avon (52 miles away).
